Simon
Dawbarn, now best known as
'Spike',
was born in Warrington in 1974. Aged twenty-one
Spike met dancer Jimmy Constable on the late night
tv show "The Hitman and Her ".
Their music love and ambitions bonded a strong
friendship, the duo were later joined by front
man Lee
Brennan to form 911.
911 set up in Glasgow, whilst gigging around the
country and releasing 2 singles on an independent
record label, in 1996 the band signed up the first
lucrative music deal with Virgin Records.
With 911, Spike had 10 top ten hit singles, including
one number one and sold over 7 million records
world wide.
911 tours in the UK and Asia were a huge success.
In South East Asia the album 'The journey
' topped at number one for an amazing twenty weeks. |
Spike
choreographed most of the dance routines that
911 performed which helped the band gain hits and
valuable awards. Unfortunately after the Malaysian
tour the band decided to split.
|
|
They announced
the break-up live on Chris Moyles Radio one
show in February 2000, but the split was just
a temporary set back, Spike successfully went
on to become a Radio Dj on Storm radio in London
with Co-presenter Debbie Mac.
During the summer of 2001 after talks between
the three band members, Lee, Jimmy and Spike
reformed 911 and toured the UK at a number of
venues, the most notable was the "Reunited
Tour". Now days Spike still rejoins 911
with gigs across England, the band is still
in high demand due to their strong hard core
supporting fan base.
Spikes love of music and dancing has led to
today's flourishing success of the PopSkool
with the first centre set up in Warrington with
Carol.
Popskool keeps on rolling forward and will be
expanding around the country with many more
centres opening up and coached by some of the
country best known top performing vocal and
dance artists.
